Apply Proper Resources
A one-size-fits-all approach is not effective in CMS. We must ensure that students graduate and are successful in their next step, whether that is college or a technical career.
Build relationships within the local community to create opportunities for students.
Improve Educational Experience
- Build relationships of trust and support between students, parents, and school staff.
- Motivate school leaders to listen to their customers: the parents and children.
- Advocate a positive relationship between parents and schools by involving parents in what their children are learning.
- Create community outreach programs to continue learning outside the school walls.
Create A Safer Learning Environment
Seek community feedback and expert advice to create and commit to a physically and emotionally safe learning environment.
Coordinate with Mecklenburg County municipalities to protect schools.
Employ security associates on the elementary school level.
Lisa Cline graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Secondary Education and History and earned a Master’s Degree in School Administration from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Lisa taught in middle and high schools for 10 years prior to moving to Charlotte with her family in 1990. Upon arriving, she joined Water Oak School, within Atrium Mental Health. She then launched her career in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System, teaching at both Smith and Cochrane Junior High Schools before being tapped to participate in the new middle school model at Smith.
Lisa has been a leader throughout her 39-year career in a wide range of teaching and leadership positions within CMS. These positions include Lead Teacher of the Smith Academy of Foreign Languages, Lead Teacher for the District Social Studies Middle School Curriculum Department, Middle Years Program International Baccalaureate (MYPIB), Coordinator at the Marie G. Davis School, and Assistant Principal at Phillip O. Berry Academy of Technology and West Mecklenburg and Ardrey Kell High Schools.
After retiring in 2019, Lisa remained involved in her community, volunteering for causes such as saving the Olde Providence Park. During the pandemic, she taught multiple K-12 learning pods. This experience allowed her to see the problems caused by online learning, which have led to catastrophic learning loss across our educational systems and inspired her to tackle this issue head-on by running for the Charlotte Mecklenburg School Board.
